I would say I’m a typical Grey’s viewer. I tire of the MerDer ups and downs. I’ve felt like each of the women at one point. I’ve crushed on most of the men in the cast. I got really annoyed with the Isaiah Thomas crap. I watch the reruns even in the summer. When it comes down to it I am a true fan therefore my opinion is more important than anyone else’s opinion. I feel it comes down to a few questions so lets answer them and move on. I know it seems like there’s more ground to cover here but nope I am the last opinion that needs weighing in.

1 ) Do you think Heigl should say the things she said?

Well I can get behind an outspoken actress who tries to save her show if the skewed storylines are causing the shows creative death but Grey’s isn’t hurting numbers wise. It doesn’t seem she’s speaking out on behalf of the show rather based on her own personal tastes for the storyline of a character that she portrays. She wanted different material. Its that simple. So when it comes to that…yeah where does she get off? She is an actress and not a writer or creator. She embodies the character they created and that’s it.

2 ) Does it matter to the show if she says these things?

I think we can all agree that it does. After all I’m talking about it. This is the second time in many years where the behind the scenes stories are overshadowing the program itself. I should be wondering if MerDer are going to be okay for a while or if Callie has totally gone lesbian. Instead the fans are wondering if Izzie is going to be killed off due to the shit talking the actress has done. So that brings us to another question.

3 ) Should she be killed off?

Well Shonda Rhimes recently kiboshed that idea saying there were new storylines for Izzie so she wouldn’t be killed off any time soon. Of course that can always change. In order to answer whether or not Izzie should be killed off we have to look at the storyline that caused Heigl to bite the hand that fed her.

4 ) What happened last year on Grey’s Anatomy…Specifically what is she bitching about?

Well the season starts with George and Izzie having fallen in love. Its been said a few times that their pairing was an answer to the desires of many fans. Fans wanted Gizzie and so the writers gave it to them. I assume its a possibility but it doesn’t seems that is entirely what happened. After all if writers took our feelings into account then Ross and Rachel would’ve gotten together and stayed together the first time. The storyline continued with hiding George and Izzie’s affair form George’s wife Callie. Eventually he reveals the affair and things get more interesting. George and Izzie work to recreate their first night of good sex but run into troubles. Eventually they both realize somehow they’re not meant to be together and they don’t truly love each other. In the mix of this Alex finds out about Gizzie and is upset. After all he waited for her after she was getting over Denny, her patient turned fiance who died. Also there’s a near girl fight with Callie which never happened. There is Izzie and Alex almost having comfort sex after his patient turned faux possible baby moma tried to kill herself.

or as wikipedia says it

In season four, Izzie and George start an illicit relationship, only to be found out by Callie and the whole hospital. They then decide that even though they love each other, they should break up because the timing is not right and they discover that they have very little chemistry. They continue to remain good friends. Izzie then decides to try cardiothoracics, much to the dismay of Cristina Yang, who is also vying for the specialty. She gives up on it, finding that it is not her niche. She undergoes a crisis of sorts, one she gets over by asserting her authority as a doctor to a difficult patient and to her interns. She later faces conflict with Alex Karev after Rebecca Pope returns claiming pregnancy; however, test results come back stating that Rebecca is not in fact pregnant. Izzie eventually convinces Alex to leave Rebecca in the care of a psychiatric facility. A heartbroken Alex seeks comfort in Izzie and the two kiss intensely before Izzie stops him and simply holds him, much like he did with her in season two. During the same time frame, she is given the keys to the Duquette Clinic as Miranda defers her duties as the clinic’s primary physician to Izzie.

5 ) So was it a bad storyline?

No, it really wasn’t. I was amazed when I was told than the fans wanted Gizzie because I hadn’t really thought of the idea until it happened. I know as soon as TV allows two characters in the same scene the internet starts a buzzing with slasher fan fic (see: Claire/Peter fan fic before the niece reveal). So Its always a possibility that everyone can sleep with everyone but this one didnt seem likely. I was more looking forward to Alex and Izzie. The alternate didn’t let me down and gave some interesting moments. The storyline was one of many this year so I don’t really know what she’s talking about. After all at the end of the day its a good drama but its also a soap opera. To pretend its more is ridiculous. Its better acted, better scripted, and more interesting than General Hospital but its still a soap opera with its changing partners, its over the top surgeries, and impossible circumstances. After all Meredith had a near death experience which found her in a supernaturalesque after-life waiting room where she crossed paths with her dying mother. I’m not sure if Heigl is wanting them to write her a Meryl Streep role in which she has to chose which of her children to take to the new world but the storylines are always going to be a little crazy. That’s what happens in the soap opera world of TV. It’s an enjoyable watch. Is it not possible to realize that although George and Izzies relationship was comical at times that the show needed that comical look at a failed relationship? Looking at the others we saw that season was more painful. Meredith’s abandonment issues which were very well founded caused a break up. Christina’s loss of love and realization of the pain all too late was realistic and sad. Callie’s heartbreak after going head first into a relationship then realizing she shouldn’t was typical and sad. So why can’t we have a comical relationship that helps lighten the heavy emotional load Grey’s was throwing at us? As a viewer you needed George and Izzie to exist in the middle of all that pain. At the end of the day it really sounds as if Heigl is just a disgruntled fan. She doesn’t like where the story is going but instead of writing about it on a blog or a forum she gets to tell it to magazines and newspapers.

6 ) Should she be answered?

No. Although she emotes the character, she is not the character. Does Heigl want to write for the show? I’d love to see a script from her where she could tell us the ideas she has for Izzie. Perhaps the only person who can truly say how a character evolves is the character’s creator. Katherine Heigl isn’t that person. Viewers and actors get to know these characters but their say should only go so far. Also many feel that Katherine Heigl isn’t the only person who could play Izzie. She was chose to play the role but I can easily think of four actresses who could take on the role. Which brings us to another question.

7 ) Should they Darrin Stevens the role?

Yup, Yuppers. I totally believe they could. Its a role that many cute, quirky blondes could play. The first Darrin replacement changed the game and Sarah Chalke (2nd Becky on Roseanne) proved it could be done even now . How about Aunt Viv from the Fresh Prince of Belair? it has been done before and it will be done again.

8 ) Is this the best time to consider this?

Ya, I think so. Now better than later. Its time for Grey’s Anatomy to have a year in which drama doesn’t supersede the shows greatness. Besides its definitely best to Let Heigl go chase her dreams of great movies. I mean if Prince Valiant, Bug Buster, Bride of Chucky, Valentine, Zyzzyx Road and The Ringer are a sign of what to look for then it’s definitely a smart move on her part. So this brings us to the best question

9 ) When does the new season start and what do we have to look forward to?

I am not fan of spoilers but I can tell you the new season starts September 25th. I’m excited to see what happens with Meredith and Derek and wonder if they’re really on solid ground now. I want to know whats next for George? After repeating then finally retaking his test means next year will be big. I’m excited for Lexie too. I’ve warmed up to her character after all she’s done for George. Christina had a really hard year but now I think she’s starting to bounce back. A full on Christina is going to be awesome. Callie is gay and McSteamy is growing up. This show has ample ground to build on. So here’s my question to you

10 ) Does the Heigl crap affect your desire to watch the show?

Not me but I’m looking forward to a year without behind the scenes drama.

So this is it huh? What we’ve been wondering about. The end of Meredith and McDreamy. It seems like this break is going to last a good long while. No more back and forth. No more sort’ve dating. No more together. Its Derek and Rose. Its Meredith and her bottle for a while. Although I am a hopeless television romantic (give me a couple then tease me with them being “meant to be” and I’ll jump on board the “plz to be letting them be together” train ), I’m happy for this change. The back and forth had gotten tedious. Meredith’s pulling away had gotten to be annoying and although I can understand her mistrust of Derek with the whole marriage thing but its obviously tainting her relationship and she needs to get over it. I kind’ve want Derek to be happy without her. Now about Callie and George and Izzie. Like a few people, including Katherine Heigl, I never quite gleaned to the idea of a George and Izzie relationship. It did seem very thrown together for a group of people who said that it should work out. I loved what the character Callie did for George. IMO until she came along he was very, very boring. So I hate the fact that she’s just this aimless character out there who was dumped by George. So I really like Mother O’Malley showing up to make George think twice about this relationship with Izzie. I think he is going to think about it. Yay! I have to mention again that I really like Rose. She’s very different from Meredith and very different from Addison so she works with Derek. As for Miranda….sigh. I gotta say I hate what they’ve done with her character. Thanks for letting us know once again that its apparently impossible to be a successful woman at work and have a happy home. If they had just one other female character in the show that came close to showing us the other side then I would be all for throwing miranda into turmoil. I realize that drama makes for better television but I gotta say that I am ashamed of Shonda Rhimes for once again throwing that stereotype in womens face. Hey, hey Shonda? You suck. Yeah that’s right. I said it. Okay you really don’t suck and I love your show so much but I hate this Miranda’s marriage possibly ending storyline. Hate it! However this episode had a rare feel good end. I loved the faith healer. I loved Alex using the “bright yellow” of Izzie to help his patient. I loved human Christiana. I loved the new enemy angle between Hahn (who puts the lotion on its skin!) and Bailey. I loved a lot. It was a good epsiode and sersiously I’m going to miss it until it returns. Grey’s Anatomy episode “Lay your hands on me” gets 4/5 bunnies.

Grey’s Anatomy Airs Thursdays at 9/8c and returns …….

Each week we’ll watch one show and offer up three opinions. As always sometimes we’ll agree and sometimes we’ll violently disagree enough to slap the other in the face with a fish. Unfortunately you won’t get to see any of that hot fish slapping action but whats left is One Show, Three Opinions. This week is Grey’s Anatomy “The heart of the matter”

Read our reviews, after the jump…

Matthew 6/10

What can I say about a show I’ve seen maybe four times before tonight but not recently. I really have no idea what’s been going on and despite feeling like I needed a girlfriend beside me to make watching “Dr. Chickfest” legit, it was a pretty fun ride. The words of Dr. Meredith Grey at the beginning were a bit lost on me because I was dreaming about how I wish it were “House” but once it got started I was pretty interested. I have two programs recording during Grey’s but I did get to watch it on ABC’s website using the ABC Full Episode Player. There could be an entire blog about the piece of crap that is. I could never get it out of “mini mode” into full screen so I watched the entire episode in full scale tiny. It was pretty annoying. Also the “limited commercial interruptions” came every commercial break in the form of a tiny commercial for garnier nutrisse products followed by flash interaction with each product. When your 30 seconds is up you are then allowed to continue the rest of the episode. Thank you ABC for allowing me to continue back to mini-Greys. Okay so back to “Greys Anatomy”. It was a decent episode with a few great laughs from old intern Norman (Richard from “Gilmore Girls” looks so old!) and my favorite line of the night came from Izzy: “…penmanship saves lives.” I thought the story with the chief’s niece was a bit over dramatic and unimportant while waiting for Izzy and Kelly to meet in the cafeteria and throw down, but I’m sure it touched all your girly hearts so who am i? I give this episode 6 Stars Hollows out of 10.

Nicholas [5/10]

I’ve been watching Grey’s since the beginning, but this season, before the first episode even aired, i canceled my series recording and started watching Supernatural instead. I think it was that after the whole fiasco with Isaiah W. and TR Knight last year, after by gone’s should have been by gone’s, and everyone had forgiven him (okay, apparently not everyone), he was still let go. eh well, on with my review.

This episode of grey’s was just a continuation of previously unfinished storylines, so it’s not really fair to say nothing’s happening. I guess I was just hoping that something new was happening. George, Izzy, and Callie were still in a tryst, & McDreamy, Meredith, and Lexie were still…well, in their tryst as well. I did find old intern a little endearing, but annoying, and the cancer story line really got to me. *manly voice* I didn’t cry or nothing, but still, it was moving. The lunchroom scene was pretty funny, but it definitely could have been funnier. It just seemed kind of sad. also about Derek wanting 2.5 kids, a wife and a white picket fence, he should definitely look for someone a bit older than Meredith, or at least someone who’s at the same point in life that he is, and one who’s not focused on beginning their medical career. I had a lot of trouble writing this review. I just can’t care about this show anymore. I definitely won’t be watching grey’s this season unless something huge happens soon.

Bunnyfear [8/10]

As the girl in twoguysagirlandablog.tv then I suppose it would be obvious that I would dig the chick shows more than the guys. Honestly this isn’t as true as the stereotype would suggest but in this show’s case it’s apt. Though I can respect all the naysayers against Grey’s Anatomy I.Don’t.Care. I love to hate this show. Well not hate but this show puts me through an emotional ringer every week and yet I always tune in. Yes I will tune into the show thats ,I admit it, a total soap opera made slightly respectable by the seriousness of the surgeries. I don’t care what you say because I love this show. This season we’ve found Meredith and Derek ending again, A George and Izzy relationship finally coming to fruition with his declaration of love, Christina moving on from the loss of Burke, The chief working to make his marriage work, Callie being uncharacteristically weak and Bailey finding her footing after having the ground yanked from beneath her feet. After all that happened last season this year serves as a big year for Grey’s Anatomy to prove it deserved the attention it got outside the drama. This was a year for Shonda Rhimes to evolve her show just a bit further and for the show to find humor in itself despite the tragedy that was happening all around. I can’t say that its proven itself completely yet but I feel its off to a good start. This episode was sad yet good. Seems like Derek and Meredith might be over for good ( at least for a while). It also seems that things are only going to get worse for Izzy and George until it gets better. I’m sad to see that the chief’s marriage may finally be over but I think this will open up new options for his storyline. Of course this episode brought both the humor with the lunchroom scene and the pain with Callie standing in the rain. (btw yay on them expanding her character) And that’s what I love about this show. I will laugh and I will cry. Like many chicks, I feel a great connection to this show. This is the new SATC because we see ourselves in each of the characters. I love that no one is quite settled because that is life. I love Ellen Pompeo so much in this role and will cry if she ever George Clooneys out of it and oh so much love for Katherine Heigl and my God who knew that Patrick Dempsey didn’t need to buy my love because he was so dreamy? Oh and yay on the next preview with Ava. I can’t wait to see her back again. Oh and wow can Bailey get any more awesome? And ya know what? I love Meredith’s sister added to the mix. It’s such a great inclusion and…and…and..Oh Wow I love this show!!! Gosh I’m incoherently gushing aren’t I? I can’t think of a bad thing to say about this show. Its…just…good. Seriously. no. SERIOUSLY.

Overall 19/30. The overall score could be better but it’s definitely a show to keep watching. Grey’s Anatomy airs 9/8c on ABC
