Burn Notice’s second season premiered last week finding Michael back in Miami helping another person caught in a bad situation. I loved the first season and I feel the second season started off nice but predictable. Some would say its a natural progression for the show which we knew wouldn’t be resolved after just one season. However, I wanted more. We know the formula works. Michael is a likable hero with a good set of supporting characters but surely we could’ve changed it up more than …this? I don’t feel Michael learned anything from the mysterious lady on the phone. Yes, he now has a fun crossword puzzle full of clues but it seems like such a boring compromise to the need for new information. I dislike the preview for next week. I hate that he’s sitting with a little piece of paper diligently looking at the crossword trying to find out how to get his life back. Go shoot someone while making a witty remark and dropping spy hints already. Jeffery Donovan still seems to be playing the character perfectly and Bruce Campbell is still perfect as Sam. Last week we saw Michael steal computer information in exchange for the victim’s kidnapped family’s safety. Donning a pretty spot on yet exaggerated British accent, Michaeal attempts to hire mercenaries who are the obstacle to the information needed to free the victims. I feel Shanon Tate is going to be appearing in more episodes as she was thrown randomly into this one for no reason whatsoever. Also I’m annoyed the start of this season ended with a “breakup” of Fiona and Michael thereby adding the inevitable “when will they get back together?” drama. With all these slight problems you’d think this show wasn’t great. However, Burn Notice is so good that even when it missteps there are loads of awesomeness to be found. From Sam counting his friends with ovaries on one hand to Fiona’s quick charm while procuring an entrance for Michael into a secured facility. There’s so much more greatness to be seen here and hopefully the full season will improve its shaky start with tonight’s episode of Michael helping a woman stalked by a cartel solider. Burn Notice airs at 10/9C on USA Network.

What do you mean Summer of 2008? Do you know how far away that is from now? OMG I can’t wait that long! You see I love Jeffrey Donovan. I first fell for him in the US version of Touching Evil. There was definitely something about him and the show was quite good. Still I turned away from it for a second and it was canceled. How could they eh? Well who cares because eventually Burn Notice and Jeffrey Donovan found each other. This show is smart, quick paced, and funny. If you haven’t taken the time to watch it then you’re really missing out. Burn Notice follows Michael Weston who was once a spy but we find has been kicked out from the super fun espionage world. Why? Well that’s the big mystery of the show but along the way Michael helps people with his knowledge all the while finding small clues to who burned him. Mixing action with comedy is hard but Burn Notice pulls it off very well. The show moves along swiftly all the while giving in to certain cliches (nagging mom) and ignoring others (Michael is a spy with a girlfriend). I love so many things about this show including bringing Sharon Gless back to the TV and having Bruce Campbell tag along to make us squeal with glee! The show is so cleverly written that I’m not shocked to hear it quickly found an audience. That, of course, isn’t very typical of a cable series unless it’s great and Burn Notice is that. So despite it taking forever and ever (amen) to show me new episodes I’ll be waiting patiently…okay not patiently but I’ll be waiting and whining. Gosh 2008?!?!?! ARGH!
