I would say I’m a typical Grey’s viewer. I tire of the MerDer ups and downs. I’ve felt like each of the women at one point. I’ve crushed on most of the men in the cast. I got really annoyed with the Isaiah Thomas crap. I watch the reruns even in the summer. When it comes down to it I am a true fan therefore my opinion is more important than anyone else’s opinion. I feel it comes down to a few questions so lets answer them and move on. I know it seems like there’s more ground to cover here but nope I am the last opinion that needs weighing in.

1 ) Do you think Heigl should say the things she said?

Well I can get behind an outspoken actress who tries to save her show if the skewed storylines are causing the shows creative death but Grey’s isn’t hurting numbers wise. It doesn’t seem she’s speaking out on behalf of the show rather based on her own personal tastes for the storyline of a character that she portrays. She wanted different material. Its that simple. So when it comes to that…yeah where does she get off? She is an actress and not a writer or creator. She embodies the character they created and that’s it.

2 ) Does it matter to the show if she says these things?

I think we can all agree that it does. After all I’m talking about it. This is the second time in many years where the behind the scenes stories are overshadowing the program itself. I should be wondering if MerDer are going to be okay for a while or if Callie has totally gone lesbian. Instead the fans are wondering if Izzie is going to be killed off due to the shit talking the actress has done. So that brings us to another question.

3 ) Should she be killed off?

Well Shonda Rhimes recently kiboshed that idea saying there were new storylines for Izzie so she wouldn’t be killed off any time soon. Of course that can always change. In order to answer whether or not Izzie should be killed off we have to look at the storyline that caused Heigl to bite the hand that fed her.

4 ) What happened last year on Grey’s Anatomy…Specifically what is she bitching about?

Well the season starts with George and Izzie having fallen in love. Its been said a few times that their pairing was an answer to the desires of many fans. Fans wanted Gizzie and so the writers gave it to them. I assume its a possibility but it doesn’t seems that is entirely what happened. After all if writers took our feelings into account then Ross and Rachel would’ve gotten together and stayed together the first time. The storyline continued with hiding George and Izzie’s affair form George’s wife Callie. Eventually he reveals the affair and things get more interesting. George and Izzie work to recreate their first night of good sex but run into troubles. Eventually they both realize somehow they’re not meant to be together and they don’t truly love each other. In the mix of this Alex finds out about Gizzie and is upset. After all he waited for her after she was getting over Denny, her patient turned fiance who died. Also there’s a near girl fight with Callie which never happened. There is Izzie and Alex almost having comfort sex after his patient turned faux possible baby moma tried to kill herself.

or as wikipedia says it

In season four, Izzie and George start an illicit relationship, only to be found out by Callie and the whole hospital. They then decide that even though they love each other, they should break up because the timing is not right and they discover that they have very little chemistry. They continue to remain good friends. Izzie then decides to try cardiothoracics, much to the dismay of Cristina Yang, who is also vying for the specialty. She gives up on it, finding that it is not her niche. She undergoes a crisis of sorts, one she gets over by asserting her authority as a doctor to a difficult patient and to her interns. She later faces conflict with Alex Karev after Rebecca Pope returns claiming pregnancy; however, test results come back stating that Rebecca is not in fact pregnant. Izzie eventually convinces Alex to leave Rebecca in the care of a psychiatric facility. A heartbroken Alex seeks comfort in Izzie and the two kiss intensely before Izzie stops him and simply holds him, much like he did with her in season two. During the same time frame, she is given the keys to the Duquette Clinic as Miranda defers her duties as the clinic’s primary physician to Izzie.

5 ) So was it a bad storyline?

No, it really wasn’t. I was amazed when I was told than the fans wanted Gizzie because I hadn’t really thought of the idea until it happened. I know as soon as TV allows two characters in the same scene the internet starts a buzzing with slasher fan fic (see: Claire/Peter fan fic before the niece reveal). So Its always a possibility that everyone can sleep with everyone but this one didnt seem likely. I was more looking forward to Alex and Izzie. The alternate didn’t let me down and gave some interesting moments. The storyline was one of many this year so I don’t really know what she’s talking about. After all at the end of the day its a good drama but its also a soap opera. To pretend its more is ridiculous. Its better acted, better scripted, and more interesting than General Hospital but its still a soap opera with its changing partners, its over the top surgeries, and impossible circumstances. After all Meredith had a near death experience which found her in a supernaturalesque after-life waiting room where she crossed paths with her dying mother. I’m not sure if Heigl is wanting them to write her a Meryl Streep role in which she has to chose which of her children to take to the new world but the storylines are always going to be a little crazy. That’s what happens in the soap opera world of TV. It’s an enjoyable watch. Is it not possible to realize that although George and Izzies relationship was comical at times that the show needed that comical look at a failed relationship? Looking at the others we saw that season was more painful. Meredith’s abandonment issues which were very well founded caused a break up. Christina’s loss of love and realization of the pain all too late was realistic and sad. Callie’s heartbreak after going head first into a relationship then realizing she shouldn’t was typical and sad. So why can’t we have a comical relationship that helps lighten the heavy emotional load Grey’s was throwing at us? As a viewer you needed George and Izzie to exist in the middle of all that pain. At the end of the day it really sounds as if Heigl is just a disgruntled fan. She doesn’t like where the story is going but instead of writing about it on a blog or a forum she gets to tell it to magazines and newspapers.

6 ) Should she be answered?

No. Although she emotes the character, she is not the character. Does Heigl want to write for the show? I’d love to see a script from her where she could tell us the ideas she has for Izzie. Perhaps the only person who can truly say how a character evolves is the character’s creator. Katherine Heigl isn’t that person. Viewers and actors get to know these characters but their say should only go so far. Also many feel that Katherine Heigl isn’t the only person who could play Izzie. She was chose to play the role but I can easily think of four actresses who could take on the role. Which brings us to another question.

7 ) Should they Darrin Stevens the role?

Yup, Yuppers. I totally believe they could. Its a role that many cute, quirky blondes could play. The first Darrin replacement changed the game and Sarah Chalke (2nd Becky on Roseanne) proved it could be done even now . How about Aunt Viv from the Fresh Prince of Belair? it has been done before and it will be done again.

8 ) Is this the best time to consider this?

Ya, I think so. Now better than later. Its time for Grey’s Anatomy to have a year in which drama doesn’t supersede the shows greatness. Besides its definitely best to Let Heigl go chase her dreams of great movies. I mean if Prince Valiant, Bug Buster, Bride of Chucky, Valentine, Zyzzyx Road and The Ringer are a sign of what to look for then it’s definitely a smart move on her part. So this brings us to the best question

9 ) When does the new season start and what do we have to look forward to?

I am not fan of spoilers but I can tell you the new season starts September 25th. I’m excited to see what happens with Meredith and Derek and wonder if they’re really on solid ground now. I want to know whats next for George? After repeating then finally retaking his test means next year will be big. I’m excited for Lexie too. I’ve warmed up to her character after all she’s done for George. Christina had a really hard year but now I think she’s starting to bounce back. A full on Christina is going to be awesome. Callie is gay and McSteamy is growing up. This show has ample ground to build on. So here’s my question to you

10 ) Does the Heigl crap affect your desire to watch the show?

Not me but I’m looking forward to a year without behind the scenes drama.

I’m going to come out of the closet and admit my secret shame — I don’t own a DVR yet. Many people do (elitist bastards who’ll be the first against the wall when the revolution comes) but there’s still quite a few of us out there that have to deal with VCR program settings, trying to avoid leaving the house during prime time, and fighting the desire to procure television by all means necessary. The major networks have provided online players as an alternative for the dvr-less. I’ve been using the major networks ABC, NBC, CBS and FOX for some time now. I recently used a few cable networks as well. Here I’ll list the top network players from best to worse.

Pluses (+)

(+)You can view most of their television shows online.

(+)They utilize lesser commercials breaks than the aired television shows.

(+)You can chose clearly marked episode chapters. Just missed the last few minutes of an episode? You don’t have to sit through the full airing to get to the good stuff.

(+)The full screen is decently sized.

(+) There is continuous episode play.

(+) The streaming player doesn’t require a pop up so that’s always nice when you’re wanting to use less memory.

(+) The website updates episodes the day after it airs on TV.

Minuses(-)

(-) They typically only offer the past 4 shows.

(-) They do not offer their full lineup online rather two minute replays for a few.

Pluses (+)

(+) ABC offers pretty much all its shows online. They even offer every season of Lost just in case you’re wanting to catch up.

(+) In the past they’ve also offer a few online exclusives such as Voicemail.

(+) They stream unaired television shows online as well. Remember when October Road was pretty much cancelled before the writers strike? Well you could’ve viewed the unaired eps here.

(+) They offer an expansive HD showcase which looks quite nice on the larger/high quality monitors.

(+) They have online sections for speciality items such as interviews between intermingled ABC actors and music videos of the most viral ABCesque videos

(+) ABC.com typically offers the full current season for viewing.

Minuses (-)

(-) In order to continue viewing the show after the commercial breaks, you must consistently press ‘continue’

(-) Depending on the show they may insert more commercials than the typically aired amount

(-) It is a pop up the player.

(-) ABC.com experiences more downage than the competitors.

Pluses (+)

(+) Very memorable link. It’s the only I can remember by heart.

(+) Fox online offers most of their shows sans some reality TV offerings

(+) Tech wise I’ve yet to find a computer that will not play their streaming media.

(+) I’ve yet to see a commercial played so its pretty much commercial free. They keep threatening commercials but I’ve yet to see one.

(+) They seem to utilize the surround sound better than any other show as well. Shows come through crystal clear in sound as well.

Minuses (-)

(-) They can take up to 2 days to upload an episode. The others typically have next day availability.

(-) FOX only offers 3 previously aired episodes.

(-) The images get stuck playing ever so often.

Pluses (+)

(+) CBS offers full episodes of past great shows such as Macguyver, Beverly Hills 90210, Twin Peaks & Dynasty

(+) CBS has recently started offering a HD showcase which features clips and a few episodes of its prime-time programming.

(+) They offer full episodes and clips of their daytime programming which is a rarity among online players

Minuses (-)

(-) Incredibly disorganized. It takes a few moments to try to find what you’re looking to see

(-) The commercial breaks are poorly timed

(-) CBS does not offer all or much of their prime-time programming via full episodes rather offering small clips of popular shows like The New Adventures of Old Christine and Criminal Minds

(-) The player often gets stuck and replays a section unless you intervene and try to fast forward to the next section.

(-) No true full screen abilities and the larger the image the poorer the quality.

Other networks and online entities make viewing offerings as well. Here are a few links you might want to bookmark.

7 Shows for 7 days.

7 listings that are truly worth your time.

Monday

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Relive the first time you saw live action turtles being funny, having random inexplicable accents, fighting crime, and overall being really awesome. Can you think of another cartoon to live action movie that comes close? Yeah that’s right. I didn’t think so. TMNT will be on ABC Family at 8/7C

Tuesday

Tuesday’s option was a Tossup between From G’s to Gents and Hurl. One show seeks to help people change their outlook on life and the other wants you to be disgusted yet entertained for 30 minutes. Sad but true the winner has to be Hurl. Hurl will feature game show contestants eating insane amounts of food and then trying to keep it in the stomachs. Mmm yummy. One could only imagine what the horror is like inside their bodies and luckily before the end of the show we’ll get to see it come out. Yes, many will say its another sign of the apocalypse. We’ve heard the same about Fear Factor, Celebrity Big Brother, and Tila Tequila’s Shot at Love but it may actually prove true here. Regardless you should at least see the first show and judge if this show makes you ready for the end. G4 9/8C

Wednesday

Dog the Bounty Hunter. Gosh I love when a racist gets a second chance. No seriously I do. Proving that he’s apparently more buoyant than Michael Richards. The other recently infamous N-word guy comes back to television. Way to stick to your guns A & E. That hiatus really made me think your principles were more important than ad dollars. Actually it’ll be interesting to see who pays for advertising time during this show. That will be more interesting than anything on the show. Well unless Dog decides to go to South Compton to hunt someone down and then IT’S ON! A & E 9/8C

Thursday

Reality Bites Back is a reality spoof with comedians and it really is worth your time to watch. Its funny and it makes you realize that Comedy Central gives us a laugh or two even when The Daily Show/Colbert report take vacations away from their TV family to spend with their families who don’t create LJ Icons proclaiming their love. Michael Ian Black hosts and his mocking is among the best. You won’t regret tuning in for just 5 minutes of this show so go for it. Comedy Central 10:30/9:30C

Friday

Hell to the Yeah! Psych is finally coming back. Shawn and Gus are incredibly funny together and I’m sure this season will be just as great. Despite the fact that apparently Gus is leaving the Psych business, I feel that somehow (as if by TV magic) the rift will be resolved and we will continue to have fun watching them solve mysteries together. Cybil Shepard will be adding her insanity to the mix. I’m sure it wont be as amusing as her appearance on a certain British television talk show but hopefully close enough. USA 10/9C

Saturday

Eli Stone. In this episode that finally brings George Michael and Eli Stone together , we find George helping a young fan. This is another of a line of really funny, charming, and entertaining shows that Eli Stone offered during its short but enjoyable season. Since many of you probably didn’t see this episode the first time around then you might as well watch it now and realize you were pretty stupid not to watch it the first time ABC 10/9C

Sunday

The 2008 Espy’s are being hosted by JT. It’ll be a night full of sports related sports stuff with ya know sporty things happening and okay I will only be watching it for JT but that’s really enough to make it worth a viewing. He will either fall on his face with his hosting duties going all awry or he’ll be funny and interesting along with the slew of Sports and Entertainment Industry celebrities cavalcading through to honor all that ESPN has deemed award winning. ESPN 9/8C

Okay I know everyone is thinking about it and so I had to write about it here on our pretty much defunct website that will prolly only be kept going by random tv moments that spark one of us has to say something. Okay blah blah writers strike. Yar blah blah prolly going to ABC. blah blah blah. I’m sorry but COME ON! Surely you could’ve had a better season ender than an episode that was probably meant for the very start of the season. Fuck I would’ve rather you let the episode in which Dr. Kelso left be the end. It was far more appropriate of a season (and possibly series) ender than THAT! I started the episode by tuning in and seeing Dr. Kelso. I watched it with a friend and we both turned to each other with a look of “How did we get put in this crazy pre Kelso leaving world?” We quickly accused each other of making us miss an episode that would explain this and just as we were about to come to blows then frikkin Dudemeister shows up and we knew that this was an episode shown entirely out of order and entirely going to be a let down. Boy was it! Now ,of course, I can admit that as a random one off episode then its quite nice. It would’ve made a good second episode of the season. It was a cute way to wrap up the near kiss and start out the season. I SAID START WHICH IS THE OPPOSITE OF END! IF YOU ARE CONFUSED THEN PLEASE SEE AN EPISODE OF SESAME STREET FOR GROVER TO EXPLAIN THE DEFINITIONS TO YOU! Yes scrubs has made me hit the caps lock to explain my rage. Hey I know the show is probably going to ABC. It will probably be explained why the episode aired like this. Of course the internet is abuzz with a few reasons such as that the cold hearted NBC company forced them to air this out of order episode in order to kill any possible viewers who’d be willing to watch the show when it goes to ABC. If they did then its not a bad plan. Since they are the company that screwed Letterman and gave us Fear Factor then I could see them doing something like that but I think it can all be explained by blaming that pesky writers strike and timing. I think if anything it’ll drive viewers to the possible ABC showing because everyone wants to know what the hell happened and what the hell is going on. My hope–That much like CSI and 2 1/2 men that Grey’s and Scrubs trade writers. Oh what fun that would be! Scrubs on NBC is done. Lets see what 2008/2009 brings us. It could be the best season yet….if the deal ever happens.

This will be an ongoing, constantly updated blog about the Academy Awards (the oscars) currently airing on ABC

7:34 Ha “Thank God for teen pregnancy” Jon tells us about the depressing set of best picture nominations

7:36 Funny that Norbit got a nomination and it just took home almost all the razzies.

7:38 Ha Diablo Cody looks so out of place. I love it.

7:39 really an old oscar/republican joke and iraqi war/movie joke? Honestly Jon these jokes are not funny.

7:40 HAHAHA! “Usually when you see a black man or woman president usually an asteroid is about to hit the statue of liberty”

7:43 I could’ve swore that supporting actor or actress was first. Cheers to costume designer chick.

7:43 oh no! oh no! oh no! I was worried they’d go for previous show clips again. Oh God don’t let this be another night of a billion clips.

7:47 oh good nothing to be worried about. yay for clips.

7:50 not fair! not fair! You weren’t supposed to make me all weepy by showing me dead actors, actresses, directors, producers, etc until later. Hate chu oscars! Hate chu!

7:52 Heh yay for Carrell. Also Hathaway was a perfect pairing. Interesting category. Of course I think Persepolis will win but I’m hoping for Ratatouille. Ratatouille wins it. It really was an adorable movie and funny. Who knew how great Brad Bird was? Well…everyone yeah.

7:56 Yay Katherin Heigl. She is shaking! Wow. Okay makeup. Oh God please don’t let Norbit win it. Please God. I know its actually a good makeup job but c’mon its Norbit. Yay La Vie En Rose wins for best makeup

8:01 I dunno if it would’ve sucked or if they didn’t have time but I really think this was a missed opportunity for some fun cartoon animals on stage. It would’ve been nice to see 2d used again and well it would’ve been perfect for the song. Enchanted is delightful btw. Totally delightful. I hope it wins. It seems almost impossible for it to not but I hope they give it an oscar for each nominated song.

8:08 The Rock is simply awesome. Oh come on please let Transformers win. Awww damn it The Golden Compass wins for visual effects. Bah! The Polar Bear wasn’t THAT great. Boooo!

8:10 Great color on Cate. Horrible neckline. Ugh. Art Direction. Hmm I did actually think the Golden Compass deserved it but I adored the look of Sweeney Todd and There will be blood (please excuse while I make required I drink your milkshake reference) Yay Sweeney Todd wins for Art Direction. Johnny Depp is so hot even the art direction people feel the need to thank him.

8:14 Cuba Gooding. Oh how you’ve done so much crap since then.

8:15 ooo Supporting Actor handed out by the awful, awful J.Hud. Javier Bardem no? Can it really be anyone else? Oh that was great.Philip Seymor Hoffman just reacted to a clip of his performance with a smug look of “Oh yeah I kick ass”. For that I kinda hope he wins but he won’t.

8:18 Yup Javier Bardem. Heh Tommy Lee Jones is looking away as he’s being thanked. Ooo he’s speaking spanish now. He took our Oscar!

8:22 Jon will now translate Javier’s acceptance using his high school learned Spanish. “I believe he told his mother where the library is”

8:24 I never thought Keri Russell would make it in movies. She seemed perfect as a television actress somewhat meant to stay in the background. The best friend of no true note.

8:25 Raise it up is being performed. It’s really good. Okay I’ve changed my mind. I want it to win. I have no more loyalty to Enchanted. Ya hear me? It’s gone to Raise it Up and August Rush. I also wish I had seen this movie.

8:28 ooooo Owen Wilson! Owen Wilson! C’mon make a joke about suicide. Do it! DOOOOOOO IT!!!!!!

8:30. He didn’t but did present the oscar to les mozart des pickpockets for best foreign film

8:31 It really is a night of a thousand clips. Jerry Seinfeld (as the cgi bee) is going to present outstanding animated short film. He starts by showing us his earlier bee work…so yeah they showed clips of bees in movies. Get it? OMG. I’m ready for the show to end now. Peter and the Wolf won it. Thats who I had on my sheet. No really. Sure I hadn’t watched it but….

8:40. Supporting Actress presented by Alan Arkin (pssst he was in Little Miss Sunshine). Ruby Dee is owed but I kinda think Cate or Tilda has this one. Tilda Swinton (who I adored in Constantine) wins Best Supporting Actress. Oh snap she mentioned Batman and Robin to George Clooney. Nice.

8:45 ooo sci tech awards. good time to see what else is on tonight. Law and Order, Simpsons Rerun, The Game, Meh.

8:46 Josh Brolin and James McAvoy present adapted screenplay. Yay Jack Nicholson mention. Can’t believe it took this long. Nominees Atonement, Away from her, the diving bell and the butterfly, no country for old men, there will be blood. Anything bout There will be blood. ….YES! NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN!

8:50 Is he gonna tell me to not download? Oh this is actually a fun way to “learn” about the oscar voting process. HA superdelegates do not vote. Tee.

8:52 REAAAALLLY Miley Cyrus? REAALLLY?

8:53 “Thats how you know” will now be performed from Enchanted. Ya know what? Screw you Raise it up. I’m all about Enchanted again. I want it to win best song. It deserves to take it all.

9:02 Heh honestly please do 5 more movies together guys. I dont care if you barely share screentime just do it. I love you that much. Once again c’mon transformers! The Bourne Ultimatum. Pfffft Best for Sound Editing. I miss how they showed clips of each last year. Oh snap did I say I miss clips?

9:05 ooo 3:10 to Yuma deserves Sound Mixing and yet is it too much to ask that Transformers be oscar winning? Heh yes because the frikkin Bourne Ultimatum takes it again. ARGH!

9:12 Are we really up to best actress already? Um who? who? I want Ellen to win. She won’t but I can’t help but hope for the little indie movie that could. Marion Cotillard. Well not at all shocking. She was the favorite.

9:18 Wii Playage! This is a young, hip, game playing oscars!

9:19 Hey Colin. Hey baby. Mm yeah. Introduce that Once song.

9:26. Thanks for those 79 years. Film Editing! I really do like this category. Bourne, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, Into The Wild, No Country for Old Men, There Will be Blood. Anything but there will be blood. C’mon YES Bourne Ultimatum. WoooT!

9:30 Ha IMDB reference. So hip. So hip.

9:38 zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

9:43 Uh um foreign film eh? I’m gonna go with the counterfeiters. ha I was right.

9:45 Ha “The versatile and handsome Patrick Dempsey” what a way to be introduced.

9:46 really Enchanted had some good Oscar movie music in it.

9:49 okay what ARE they slipping/tripping on? Clean up on Oscar aisle. Clean up on Oscar aisle. Also I’m gonna break Travolta’s legs. Ya ya you dance. Enough!

9:50 OMG ONCE Wins! ONCE WINS! Enchanted had 3 songs. It was the ONLY SONG I HATED! ARGH!!!!!!! I HATE YOU OSCARS AND YOUR STUPID OVERDRAMATIC LOVE OF ALL THIS MELANCHOLY!

10:00 oh fine but let this be There Will be Blood’s only win! Production Design btw

10:02 sick—-> I assume Heath will win the clap off. He did. Though Kerr was very much second.

10:20 zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

10:24 unless youre one of the other nominees then how could you not want Diablo to win? She did! Horrible dress. horrible! Still yay

10:30 she totally said something inappropriate to Harrison Ford offstage. “Ya think Chewie is a furry?”

10:35 Oh fine. He was quite good in the role. Yay for Daniel Day Lewis winning Best Actor

10:43 Yea. Go ahead Cohens!

10:45 Oooo who shall it be? No Country for Old Men!

10:48 Really sub par. Jons first time was genius. This time was just not good. I know he had no time to prepare but that doesn’t stop me being disappointed that he’d find a way to pull off a great and entertaining show. The wii playing did not do it Jon and I bet you take tomorrow night off of the daily show. Pffft. lazy. Oscars telecast gets a boo from me.

Each week we’ll watch one show and offer up three opinions. As always sometimes we’ll agree and sometimes we’ll violently disagree enough to put out a mob hit on each other. Fortunately we’ll come to our senses and cancel the hit. You won’t get to see any of that Sopranos action but whats left is One Show, Three Opinions. This week is the new show Eli Stone.

Bunnyfear [ 9.5/10 ]

I’m a fan of anything that’s a little different. I’ve always sought out the television that was as far from reality as there possible. Throw in an odd element not quite kosher with tv standards and I’m going to tune in. Disbelieve me? I watched the entire run of Baby Bob just because it was a little different. So after watching the trailer for Eli Stone I was sure that I’d be viewing the first few episodes hoping for a success. I feel I got that.

The ABC tv show, Eli Stone follows the life an attorney who begins having visions which he learns are caused by a brain tumor. This changes his life forever. Although he is seeking medical assistance from his brother, It doesn’t seem to be with the aim to stop his visions that lead him to the next case he’s lead to take. Eli quickly realized that living with these visions are changing his life for the better. They have helped him to forgive his father and to put peace to their strained relationship. His father had the same tumor though no one knew until now. They’ve helped him to change his career that would not be fulfilling in the long run and the visions have also brought him and his fiance closer together.

Now here’s the thing. Is it a musical? Is it too Viva Laughlin and Cop Rock for its own good? I don’t think so. Yes seeing a variety of people burst into a nice George Michael ditty might’ve made you think otherwise but each moment was smileworthy. I think what I like so much about Eli Stone is that it very much reminds me of Six Feet Under just lighter. Though who didn’t love the incestuous Brenda/Billy relationship and kinda hope they’d get together? I mean obviously not me as that’s just sick but for those sick folks please consider watching Eli Stone. It has many similar elements to Six Feet Under including the general basis– A man on the cusp of life being thrown for a loop when an other worldly element works to constantly change and redefine his ideals of life. Throw in visions each episode and you’ve got quite an interesting show worth watching. My only qualm would be the fact that I hate the sassy black assistant. Her character defines everything thats wrong with television. I only hope she won’t encourage him to go to church in order to cure himself then he’ll hallucinate an amazing black choir that she is the lead singer of. I have to , of course, comment on the fact that George Michael’s songs are the names of each of Eli Stone’s episodes and that this is a wonderful touch. It’s perfect timing for now older George Michael fans who loved his tunes while younger who can appreciate a character looking at his life feeling it deserves a bit of change. Thanks be to Greg Berlanti for turning his own fanship into a characterteristic that truly colors the entire show in a musically nostalgic and creatively inspiring light.

I don’t know why this show was relegated to being just a mid-season replacement because it deserves the span of a full season. I can see how people might wonder if his visions might get old but I think this character was built on the idea of evolution. The ending is already written for this show. It simply can not end with Eli Stone surviving his tumor. It will be a bitter sweet end but it will be devastatingly beautiful. I won’t miss an episode of this show because I already have faith that Eli Stone is going to be amazing.

Nicholas [ 7.5 out of 10 ]

Hack the planet!!! Hack the planet!!! You know, from Hackers…anyway, Zero Cool…I mean, Crash Override…I mean, Johnny Lee Miller plays a lawyer who receives visions accompanied by the music of George Michael. How great is that? Maybe not so great if you’re not a GM fan, but I remember being glued to the screen watching George Michael’s Faith video as a young teenager. Now that I think about it, wasn’t that an entire video of him shaking his a$$? Eh well, it’s a good song.

This episode of Eli Stone featured a boys choir from Northern California singing Freedom (by George Michael). What a treat! So Eli takes another unwinnable charity case for the good of man, asks advice from his surfer dude acupuncturist and has a really cool vision of a war in his living room while he makes sweet love to his (not so) sweet girlfiend. I wonder if this show is a novelty that will wear off someday? I’d like to think there are lots of secrets they will slowly reveal like Lost’s trail of bread crumbs (but hopefully faster than Lost). That would definitely keep me interested. Until then, Stone’s blatant use of George Michael, musical & dance numbers, & Loretta Devine (the secretary) have won me over. I hope it never gets old.

Just when I thought I’d never see Jonny Lee Miller again, BAM!, comes “Eli Stone”. I gotta say I love this intriguing bit of supernatural twist on a straight forward law show. The fantasy musical numbers at the office, Dr. Chen’s fake accent, Loretta Divine too? Man, it couldn’t have come at a better time. If it weren’t for the dry spell we’ve been
having I have no idea if I’d let it pass me by on a different more fruitful year, but I’m anxious to see what happens next and how the nextGeorge Michael song will be creatively presented. My vote is for “Father Figure” but from the end of last week it doesn’t look like another hit is in our future this time.

This has turned into a general review for the series thus far but I feel the same for both episodes… Love it. I’m afraid though, if “Eli Stone” continues during more colorful end-of-writers strike days it may get a bit washed out. After all, when you’ve been stuck in a desert for days without water, even sandy oasis water looks and tastes like fresh bottled water. Ok well hell, you get my point. I give “Eli Stone” 9 bottles of water on the wall out of 10. 7.5 out of 10

*******************************************************************
Eli Stone scores a visionquestastic 26/30. The best score a freshman drama can ever hope to earn. Tune in to Eli Stone Thursdays 10/9c on ABC. Check it out.
