I’m changing up the feature to be called 7 shows this week. At first I was telling you 7 shows I felt you should watch but I’m just going to be lazy and tell you 7 shows that I will be watching this week. If you’re smart you’ll catch one of these shows as I usually only watch good TV. With that I present…

7 shows this week

Tuesday

I survived a Japanese Gameshow–ABC 9/8C

I haven’t watched this show previously but this is the season finale in which they’ll bring back some of “the best challenges” from the season. I feel now is the time to watch at least a few minutes of it so that I can legitimately call it crap. Ya know in the same way you read the first Twilight book in order to hate it.

Eureka –Sci fi 9/8C

The season started off pretty strong at least enough to make me want to watch it again this week. I gave up on Eureka pretty quick the first time around so here’s hoping they keep me interested this time. Yes, Fickle thy name is TVBunny.

Wednesday

Hard Knocks-HBO 10/9C

I’ll watch because watching the cowboys comes with living in Dallas. I’ll watch it and hope to see something mildly interesting like Jessica Simpson showing up and asking about tuna.

Thursday

My Boys-TBS 10/9C

This show has been consistently funny since the start hasn’t it? You also have a connection with P.J. and the guys that is rarely seen in television. I find the show to be endearing all the while evolving its humor and relationships in realistic and perfect timed ways. Great show. I’m sad for the season finale. It flew by too fast. Thanks to TBS for giving it a home. I imagine the other networks passed on it and how wrong they were. I’m quite happy it landed on TBS because I don’t think it would’ve flourished well on any other network.

Friday

Psych-USA Network 10/9C

WTF with Psych lately huh? I’ll be watching it because Psych is a good show with mysteries that are fun to figure out. However what the hell is going on with this show? You’ve had 3 really great episodes that have all ended on downers. Emotional downer notes. Have they learned nothing from the fact that I’m turned off from Monk nowadays? Oh they didn’t know? Well Psych listen up. Monk is a great show but quite often the show gets too heavy for a comedy show about a quirky detective. Take head Psych, if you keep down this emotional path we won’t be Friday night lovers anymore.

Saturday

Austin City Limits: Ladysmith Black Mambazo-PBS 9/8c

Austin City Limits guest can be hit or miss but I’m just really interested to see Lady Smith Black Mambazo on the stage. Their harmonies are really great. If you just know them from the TV Funhouse skit Ladysmith Black Mambazo in Outer Space then I think you’re missing something. The show is a repeat that I’m glad is being shown another time. There’s something to be said for Repeats. Not everyone has a TIVO and summertime used to be a time to find shows you didn’t watch the first time around. I wonder who is really hurting in the end when there is a rush to create new summer programming and not give people a second chance to find a new tv love.

Sunday

Desperate Housewives ABC 10/9C

Well I’d be watching Mad Men if I had AMC but somehow I don’t have this channel. Lately I’ve been using Sunday as my “give Desperate Housewives another chance” day. I’m still shocked that I fell out of love with it so quickly. The show does seem to have gotten better after that horrible sophmore slump but it still seems to be lacking something. Maybe its because all the mysteries are solved to the audience before they’re revealed to the players. I don’t know how the season ended but next season should start with someone like Edie murdered and the mystery shall ensue…for all of us. Do it Marc Cherry or I’ll show up with a picket sign or two.
