Pushing Daisies: So Far, So Good (thoughts and a mention) 0

The most consistent show of the new fall season, Pushing Daisies, deserves at least a few thoughts and a mention. The second episode of the season, overflowing with sadly not quite as much dark humor as cute quirky moments, still left me “drooling” for more. A few people are worried that a show this perfect can’t last. That it might eat itself up with it’s own cuteness and drown in debt from it’s elaborate production value. I don’t believe that something this amazing should be mentioned with such criticisms especially when it is this good and it is on top of the new season right now in my eyes. My future self for one can sure ask someone proudly “Remember how great those first two episodes of “Pushing Daisies” were? Boy oh boy do I own the hell out of disc one of six!” Sure it may not have all the direct drama and character development of some great shows before it that may or may not have mixed and tested that big bag o’ quirk I love so much, but it unfolds sweetly, honestly and hilariously before our eyes. A Classic Dr. Seuss book without all the rhymes but just a touch of death. Through the action and the careful words of the characters and the narrator the drama and character development shine through slowly but deliberately without, what seems like now, the icky direct approach. Both episodes kind of remind me of a great movie trailer for a not-so-great movie. But like they say, the trailer is almost always better anyways. ‘Pie-lette‘ and ‘Dummy’ are two episodes of any series too tasty to miss, but only the future knows if this sweet slice of pie will live a long life, or die trying. I plan on watching “Pushing Daisies” through to the sweet or bitter end.
