Andy Griffith Show PosterThe series in which we will pick a show from TV Land or Nick at Nite and find out what the main stars are up to now. Then google a phrase pertaining to that persons character and see what Google spits out.
The Andy Griffith Show is the original American TV show. It’s like Hot Dogs or Baseball. If you live in America, you are most likely to have been exposed to Andy Griffith or Barney Fife at some point in your life.
I know I picked a really old one for the first post in the series. I was just feeling incredibly nostalgic today. Most of them will be from the 80′s or 90′s, I promise.
Andy Taylor: Played by Andy Griffith. Andy has been retired since 2003 and lives in Manteo, North Carolina. Recently he was in the independent film Waitress (2007) with Keri Russell.
Google Game (the search term is in bold): Andy gave advice to the head guard that enabled him to keep 10000 dollars that was left to him by his deceased brother. (Name that movie for 10 brownie points)
Opie Taylor: Played by Ron Howard. Ron currently resides at the Sea Pines Resort on Hilton Head Island in South Carolina. (as of Jan 2006). Since playing little Opie, Ron has become quite the accomplished director. In fact if you haven’t seen one of his movies, Tommy will hit you over the head with a tack hammer.
Google Game: opie ate that whole thing Christmas night
Aunt Bee: Played by Frances Bavier. Aunt Bee only acted until 1974. She was born in 1902 and lived in Siler City, North Carolina at the time of her death in 1989 of congestive heart failure.
Google Game: Aunt Bea baked the pie, not the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

Barney Fife: Played by Don Knotts. Don did mostly voiceover work from 1997 up to the time of his death in Los Angeles on 2-24-2006 of pulmonary and respiratory complications. His last acting job was as the voice of Wormie on Hermie & Friends: To Share Or Nut To Share.
Google Game: Barney yelled at Joann, “your son’s probably an alcoholic, among other things!”
Otis Campbell: (the town drunk) Played by Hal Smith. Hal did voice over work later in his career as well. He died on 1-28-1994 in Woodland Hills, CA of a heart attack.
Google Game: Otis drank very heavily and had always been a touch eccentric. [perfect]
Gomer Pyle: Played by Jim Nabors. Jim’s last acting gig was on the Carol Burnette Show in 1991. He currently Lives in Hawaii on a Macadamia Nut Farm.
Google Game: Gomer fell into slavery, probably because of debt. [oh yeah, that's what it's all about]
